What is a sustainable community?
Sustainable communities are places in which people want to live, now and in the future.
They are safe, clean, friendly, and prosperous, with good amenities such as education, health services, shopping and green spaces.
Sustainable communities meet the diverse needs of existing and future residents, their children and other users, contribute to a high quality of life and provide opportunity and choice. They achieve this in ways that make effective use of natural resources, enhance the environment, promote social cohesion and inclusion and strengthen economic prosperity.
Below is a model widely used to demonstrate components of sustainable communities. We would like you to take a look and think how your organisation would fit into any of these areas.
For example if you provide a transportation service to the elderly, you would be eligible to apply. If you would like to apply online now, please click here.
