1) I run a small business: can I apply to be a Micro
Coach?

Yes. Any small or medium business can take advantage of
the Micro Coaches programme either as a Micro Coach, or a Micro
Coachee, or both!
-
2) I am good at finding ways to explain processes to new
trainees, can I apply to train to be a Micro Coach?
-
If you are a manager in a social enterprise, private
business or voluntary organsiation and have a business skill that
helps you run your business, please apply. We want to train people
who have a specific skill that makes their business successful so
they can pass that skill onto other organisations.
-
3) I think that I could show someone how to use
cashflow forecasting in their organisation, as it has helped my
business. Can I apply to train as a Micro Coach?
-
Yes you can. We want to train people who have a specific skill
that makes their business successful so they can pass that skill
onto other organisations.
-
4) My business relies on me. Can I be paid for delivering
a Micro Coaches Session to another business?
-
Yes. We recognise that when you are not in your business, there
is a cost to you. Micro Coaches are paid £150 per session
to visit other businesses and deliver a Micro Coaches session
to them in their skill.
-
5) I want to be a Micro Coach. How will I
know when I am going to deliver a Micro Coaches session?
-
The Micro Coaches programme allows the Micro Coachee who has
booked you to suggest four time slots. They will keep these slots
until you agree one of them. If none suit, then they will be asked
to suggest four others. We always check with you before finalising
arrangements as we know your own business commitments will
change.
-
6) I would like to have someone help me get better about
keeping existing customers. Is that possible?
-
That is the kind of thing we plan to offer. The range will
evolve as the programme progresses, but we will offer specific
skills that will help you improve your business.
-
7) How do I find out what skills and Micro Coaches are
available?
-
The website will tell you what skills are on offer in your
region. You can also fill out an enquiry form from the website if
you want let us know of a skill that you are interested in, and we
will try to identify someone who can offer that skill and let you
know when it is available. Keep an eye on the News section to hear
of new skills!
-
8) How much does a Micro Coach session cost?
-
You pay £290 per session. This allows us to administer the
programme, pay the Micro Coach and ensure that new Micro Coaches
can be trained. It compares well with commercial training days, and
the difference is that you get one-to-one specific skills transfer
that is tailored to your unique business needs.
-
9) Can I get a bursary for a Micro Coaches session?
-
We understand that sometimes very small businesses find it hard
to pay for training, and so we try to offer bursaries where
possible. You will be told if there is a partial or full bursary
available for your particular situation. That is why we ask so many
questions when you book!
-
10) Does it matter what size my business is?
-
If your business, social enterprise or voluntary organisation
has less than 500 employees, you can access the Micro Coaches
programme.
-
11) I work in a large business, or in the public sector,
can I become a Micro Coach?
-
No. Micro Coaches is aimed at small and medium businesses. The
reason for this is that smaller business leaders need to use a
wider range of skills to support and grow their businesses, and
Micro Coaches works well for this. But we recognise that the Micro
Coaches programme has something to offer larger businesses and
public authorities who might want to cascade specific skills
within their organisation. We can offer such
bodies training in the Micro Coaches method for skills transfer
within the organisation. Contact us for details.
-
12) My business offers business advice. Can I train

businesses. But they are not suitable for this scheme. Other
schemes are available to ensure that Business Advisors can offer
their services to small and medium businesses.
-

coach others through this scheme?
-
